Testing router with a ping
Testing router with a ping
Article
When this next happens can you run this test to see if you are getting any timeouts
Windows ping:
XP: Go to start > run > type CMD > then in the box type this in the exact way without quotes "ping -t
www.tvcatchup.com
"
Vista: Go to search type CMD and follow the same process as above.
Mac OS: Click on Finder in the dock > Click on Macintosh HD in the window > Click on Applications > Click on Utilities >

> In the Network Utility window, click on the Ping tab >

> In the field under "Please enter the network address to ping, enter tvcatchup.com to ping TVCatchup's domain servers > Click the Ping button.
Linux: Open a TERMINAL window > Type "ping" in the Command Window > Hit the space bar once > Type the IP or website address that you want to ping, after the space. For example, if you want to ping TVCatchup, type "www.tvcatchup.com" after the space > Hit "Enter." If the website is up and actively responding, you receive replies back from the server that you pinged with the following information:
* The IP address
* The number of Bytes sent
* The time it took in milliseconds
* The TTL is Time to Live (This indicated the number of "hops" back from the computer pinged from that computers initial TTL value.)
Ok what you are looking for is timeouts or excessive ms times as in the example below
Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]
(C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp.
C:\Documents and Settings\colwal>ping -t tvcatchup.com
